More than just a freight hauler...
The Mill Brook Railroad has unexpectedly become curator of an historic collection. With a handshake, we've become the owners of the Ossipee Central Railway. The OCR comes from the estate of the late Dwight Winkley, who was involved in several railroad preservation projects in New England. The equipment dates back to the 1960's and 1970's and the track dates back to 1970. It features about 1200 feet of track, seven cars, two locomotives, a turntable lift, an engine house with steaming bays, an air compressor, five drums of steam coal, and other supporting items. The estimated cost to pay off the loan, move all this equipment and preserve it is around $15,000. We have until the first of July, 2024 to move the entire railway 86 miles from Ossipee, NH to Windsor, VT.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and save this important, yet little known railway. Your generous donations will fund moving and preserving the Ossipee Central Railway in its entirety and will help us share it with future generations as we open up to the public.

The Mill Brook Railroad is a private 7-1/4 inch gauge backyard raroad in Windsor, Vermont. We haul agricultural products and home heating fuel around our small farm.
Our goal is to promote the backyard railroading hobby as a practical tool for homeowners and small farms. To that end, we have created a YouTube channel that documents all we do on the railroad year round.
We provide consulting services for those wishing to have their own private railroad. Please email for more information.
We also manufacture a small ride-on locomotive that can power backyard railroads from 6 inch gauge to 9 inch gauge. The ES-2-500 is a 2-axle battery electric switcher with two drive axles chain driven by a single 500W traction motor. It is best suited for light to medium duty work on light to moderate grades.
